Results of Rice Business Plan Competition

Project Description

Rice University announced prizes worth more than $1.3 Million at the 2020 Rice Business Plan Competition. The competition was judged by over 150 expert judges and prizes were announced on the basis of months of preparations to prepare 10 minute pitches.

The first prize worth $350,000 was taken home by a startup from Georgia State University called Aurign. The Goose Capital investment Prize winner, Aurign uses data analytics and blockchain technology to automate music publishing agreements for music artists to secure their royalty payments.

The second place was secured by nanopathdx from Dartmouth College which took home a prize worth $100,000. Following the line in third position with the award of $50,000 was a startup from Harvard University called Fractal. In fourth and fifth position with prizes worth $5,000 was RefresherBoxx (from RWTH Aachen University) and Beltech (from University of Chicago) respectively.

Rice Business Plan Competition is one of the richest and largest competitions focused on upliftment of student-led startups. The competition is conducted annually and for the first time was conducted virtually with prizes over $1.3 million.
